LGBTQ Style Tips With Hannah Cannon (@hancanfans)

AT MNSTRM we love the LGBTQ community and strive to highlight the unique style of queer women all over the world. We reached out to our favorite fashion forward influencers to get the inside scoop on their wardrobe, styling techniques, and more.

Today we have Hannah Cannon (@hancanfans) a social media creator who creates videos with her girlfriend, Kylie on Tiktok (@kyhanpeppers). They share everything from fashion tips to DIY projects to funny reaction videos, so definitely check them out! 

Who are you and what is your passion?

I’m Hannah Cannon, a 22 year old student doing social media currently with my girlfriend, Kylie. Together we’re @kyhanpeppers on TikTok. We love everything fashion, and especially thrifting. We also have a depop account where we thrift and up cycle clothing. We share a lot of clothing and we adore building cohesive looks together.

You have 60 seconds to put together an outfit. What do you wear?

My go-to fit is always something comfortable. I’m usually always laying outfits in my brain before I have to get dressed. So if it’s last minute I’ll just throw on a oversized band tee or jersey, some cohesive shorts, a hat or beanie and usually a white sock and shoe combo. I never forget to put on my watch, rings, chains and an over the shoulder bag.

What's your #1 tip for putting together a cohesive look?

A tip of mine would be to start building your wardrobe. You definitely need your basics and layers to start building a cohesive look. Also, use resources like Pinterest to start getting and idea of what you want your style to look like!

What's your current favorite article of clothing?

My current favorite article of clothing is a pair of pants that my grandma gave me out of her personal closet. They’re plaid and super cool. I love wearing unconventional clothing. Who knew I’d ever love going through my grandparents clothing and making outfits!

How does clothing fit into your every day life?

I use clothing to express myself. I don’t fit into a certain “aesthetic of style”. My mom always says that I “dress in costume” because of my ability to switch from style to style.

What's a style or trend that you just don't understand? What's a style or trend you wish you could bring back?

I absolutely think any trend/style is valid. Everybody expresses themselves in different ways, I just think people should feel comfortable with their outfit before they step out for the day. Fashion is a great way boost someone confidence and to feel better about yourself, especially for queer people! For me personally, I love wearing jewelry and it makes me feel more confident!

Who do you look at for fashion inspo or advice?

I use platforms like Pinterest and Instagram to get inspiration for outfits. Clothing and trends are recycled, so don’t feel awkward borrowing someone’s color scheme.
